About Black Mountain Hideaway

Black Mountain Hideaway epitomizes the beauty of the Port Douglas Hinterland.
Its world heritage site surroundings include the majestic Mowbray Falls rambling 120 meters down cliffs and the lowlands to the seascape of the Great Barrier Reef.

Relax and unwind in our rustic hilltop farm nestled in the air conditioned Port Douglas Hinterlands, Australia. Black Mountain Hideaway’s mild and less humid climate allows you to enjoy the tropics in a less sticky way! The picturesque farm is located 35 minutes drive from Port Douglas and easy access from Cairns, through scenic tropical North Queensland, Australia.

At Black Mountain Hideaway, we have a Cattle and Equestrian Centre. We also own a menagerie of various exotic birds, chickens, ducks, cats and dogs. All the animals are treated as part of the family and they enjoy making new friends and receiving love and attention.

Black Mountain Hideaway offers fully self contained accommodation lodges; horse trail rides; guided bush walks; a host of wildlife and bird spotting; Jillaroo courses and horse riding clinics for Horse Safe accreditation. Or, simply relax in total, undisturbed privacy.
